To get a few more skills you may want to attend another course. These are just a few of what’s available:

Leeds Climbing Wall offers one off sessions with an instructor, or longer courses to get you confident enough to carry on independently - both indoors and outside. Contact them on 0113 2341554 for more information.

Harrogate Climbing Centre run a range of courses so that you can gain the knowledge to climb safely either in the centre or outdoors, or to begin with you can use the bouldering area. They also run a social climbers night on Mondays so you don't always need a friend to climb with.  Contact them on 01423 815024.

Rock Antics Limited is a climbing wall at Newton Aycliffe - offers one off sessions with an instructor, or longer courses to get you confident enough to carry on independently. Phone 01325 320683.

Yorkshire Dales Guides can take you out for a climbing session either at Ingleton climbing wall or on one of the crags in the Yorkshire Dales. Ring 01729 824455 for more information.

Bewerley Park (Pateley Bridge) is one of North Yorkshire Outdoor Education Service's outdoor centres. All four centres are listed on the website together with links to courses available for many activities. If you can get at least 4 people together they may put on an extra course for you - so worth calling on 01423 711287.

Clubs

If you would like to take up climbing and make new friends try one of the regions clubs below.

Clubs allow you to share transport and sometimes equipment - this can make it cheaper to get you started and helps you contact others interested in the same things as you.

Have a look at their websites to get an idea of what the club is about, then get in touch with the club secretary and introduce yourself if you fancy attending a session.

Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) Outdoor Club meet in Grassington on Tuesday evenings at 6.00pm at the fell rescue hut - just near the National Park Authority car park. Especially good for younger participants.

Swaledale Outdoor Club is a multi-activity club based around Richmond, and is keen to invite members from across North Yorkshire.

Leeds Mountaineering Club - Great for over 18s. Meet in various venues to climb but social 9.30pm most Tuesday evenings at the Palace pub, Leeds.
