Building conservation advice
The Built Heritage Conservation Team
Stalling Busk ChurchThe Built Heritage Conservation Team seeks to conserve and enhance the historic built environment of the Yorkshire Dales National Park for the appreciation and enjoyment of residents, tourists, and also for the generations who will follow us.
In order to achieve this goal the Built Heritage Conservation Team performs the following duties:
Maintaining up to date policies and proposals relating to conservation issues in the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority Local Plan
Supporting policies within the local plan with more detailed advice through the publication of Supplementary Planning Guidance, such as Conservation Area Character Statements and Guidance Notes
A continual process of reviewing existing and potential conservation areas and their boundaries
Maintaining records of the listed buildings within the Authority’s boundaries
Providing advice to owners, purchasers and developers on the restoration and enhancement of listed buildings, development within conservation areas and works to all aspects of the historic built environment
Work with the Development Control Service to assess planning applications, and applications for listed building or conservation area consent
Working with the Enforcement Service to resolve infringements of planning law relating to listed buildings and conservation areas.
