Bower Bank Eco Barn (a ground source heat pump)
Bower Bank at Gawthrop in Dentdale provides B&B accommodation for up to 12 people and includes a range of environmentally sustainable features, including a geo-thermal heat pump providing hot water and under floor heating. The system is underpinned by a range of energy efficient measures, and sheep’s wool insulation. Bower Bank received a grant from the Sustainable Development Fund to assist with its development. Orchid House, Malham, (an air source heat pump)
The Orchid House is a historically important building, within the curtilage of a Grade II Listed Building, and is owned by National Trust’s Malham Tarn estate.
The building is currently being refurbished for educational use with the assistance of a grant from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’ Sustainable Development Fund. An air source heat pump will be installed to service the building and interpretative panels will explain how the pump works and the environmental benefits it will bring.
