Establishing cattle herds & case studies

To support farmers to introduce cattle onto their farms and create the infrastructure needed to look after them, the Limestone Country Project:

  • Funded 18 herds of traditional breed cattle-grazing on 1,850 hectares of internationally important limestone habitats plus many other parts of the farm (exceeds target of 1,500 hectares).

  • Built one new organic standard cattle shed.

  • Adapted four existing sheds to modern standards.

  • Purchased two mobile cattle handling devices for use by farmers and provided static handling facilities for remote sites.

  • Provided three electric fencing kits for stock management.

  • Provided seven new stock watering facilities.
