The Dales Countryside Museum collection incorporates the North Yorkshire County Council collection of artefacts. The majority is on public display but there is also a reserve collection stored on site.
Appointments to view the reserve collection must be booked by emailing the Museum or telephoning on 01969 666210.
Please allow two weeks for the reserve collection to be prepared for viewing.
You can use a computer to browse our Out of Oblivion website which is a great resource for finding out about the historic environment of the Yorkshire Dales.
Research Room and facilities
Our research facilities are open 7 days a week 10-5pm which include:
Archive and Census material
Members of the Upper Dales Family History Group on site every Monday to help with enquiries
Internet access, Microfilm reader and Microfiche
Primary resources for local history research
Macfie and Calvert Archive to view by appointment
Refreshment room
