National Parks' Week 2011: 25 July – 31 July
This year’s National Parks’ Week promises to be bigger and better than ever with a host of exciting events for everyone to enjoy.
Dedicated to raising public awareness of Britain’s National Parks, the week celebrates their beauty, diversity and the wide range of opportunities they offer for recreation and enjoyment.

Here in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, we've got plenty on offer. Whether you want to visit old leadmines, get crafty, or get wild about wildlife, there's something for you.
Tuesday 26 July
Dry Stone Walling Demonstration

Wild Wednesday

Drop in any time and join the fun. Borrow fishing nets and discover what lives in the River Wharfe, make a bee home to take away, or take a walk and follow the insect trail.
Suitable for ages 5+. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Wellington boots and a towel advisable for fishing.

Lets get Buzzy

Learn about the fascinating lives of bumblebees and make some bumblebee crafts. A fun, free, practical drop in session with Tanya St Pierre, Flowers of the Dales Project Officer.

Red Squirrels in the National Park

Illustrated talk by ranger Matt Neale on how our native red squirrel is faring in the National Park, looking at habitat, competition from greys and future conservation.

Archaeology Demonstration

How early people were producing survival tools for hunting and everyday life. Techniques used around the world of our earliest ancestors and later stone
age cultures using only tools available to them. Ties in with the national Festival of British Archaeology.

Thieves, Beggars and a Hidden Dale

Meet Clapham National Park Car Park (grid ref SD 745 692)
Join our knowledgeable Dales Volunteers on this moderate 9 mile (14km) walk from the popular village of Clapham to a beautiful and lesser known dale. Accessible by public transport - Leeds- Morecambe-Lancaster railway line. Station 1.5 miles from village.
