Standards compliance

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) promotes a drive to make websites more accessible, known as the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). Published by the WAI, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) provide authors and programmers with details of how webpages can be made accessible.  The guidelines are arranged into three priorities, 'A', 'AA' and 'AAA', where 'A' indicates the lowest level of accessibility, 'AAA' the highest.

In designing and building this website, the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority aims to comply with as many of the guidelines as possible and to achieve the WAI 'AA' standard of accessibility.  We note, however, that keeping the website at this standard is a continual process as new material and facilities are added.  Furthermore, a number of the guidelines are subjective in nature.  Although we have tried hard to meet the guidelines fully, there may be instances where sections of the website are not yet up to standard or where interpretation of a particular guideline may vary.  In these instances, we would be pleased to receive your comments so that we can further improve the accessibility of the site.

All templates have been Bobby approved to priority 2 ('AA') and all warnings by Bobby have been manually checked for conformance.
