Progress update:

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority published a research strategy for the historic environment in 2010. The strategy is now being used to target new research and survey work, and the Authority's financial suppoprt for local archaeology and history groups. In 2010/11, this included projects to: topographically survey a series of prehistoric burial cairns and an unusual World War 2 searchlight battery complex; to develop skills in geophysical survey techniques and excavate an early medieval communal bread oven, previously interpreted as a corn drying kiln.
